Playing tips and a fun fact
Begin with a dessert whose spelling is familiar, then use the printed bank to check less common names. MOUSSE and MERINGUE have different textures and different letter patterns, so take each one slowly. A host can invite participants to group entries into baked, chilled, and frozen treats while allowing some desserts to belong in more than one category.
A meringue gets much of its airy structure from beaten egg whites. That gives it a very different appearance from a dense square of fudge. After finding the last word, draw a pretend bakery window with three choices and make small handwritten labels. There is no need to choose a single favorite.
Ideas to extend the activity
- Draw a pretend bakery window.
- Sort desserts by texture.
- Describe a treat using three words.
