Vegetables Word Search (Large Print)

Visit a paper produce stand with this vegetable word search. Roots, leafy greens, and familiar garden crops fill the list, from a short PEA to a longer CUCUMBER. The puzzle is intended as a pleasant food activity, not a lesson about what anyone should eat. It works well beside a garden discussion, a harvest display, or a recipe exchange.

US Letter, one puzzle page and one answer page. Easy level.

Playing tips and a fun fact

Search for the vegetables you know best first. Finding CORN or CARROT may make it easier to settle into the grid before looking for PARSNIP. If a participant has never tasted an entry, a description of its shape is enough to bring it into the conversation. No one needs to defend a favorite food or try something new.

The part of a carrot usually eaten is its enlarged root, while celery is valued for its crisp leaf stalks. That contrast makes a useful sorting game once the search is finished. Draw a garden row above and below the soil line, then place a few words where their edible parts would grow.

Ideas to extend the activity

  • Sort crops by the part people eat.
  • Draw a vegetable garden cross section.
  • Name a soup ingredient from the list.
