Weekly Activity Packs

Ready-to-print sets of large print puzzles for activity directors, librarians, teachers and family caregivers. Each pack holds five puzzles in mixed levels, so everyone at the table can find something that suits them.

A pack is one PDF on US Letter paper: five puzzle pages followed by five answer pages. Every pack contains two word searches, two Sudoku and one maze. The levels are mixed on purpose. You might hand an easy word search to one resident, a medium Sudoku to another, and keep the rest in reserve for anyone who finishes early. Print the puzzle pages only, copy as many sets as you need, and keep the answer pages for the person leading the session.

The puzzles in a pack are the same ones you can preview on the website, so you can look at a page before you print it. If your group needs more of one kind, the word search themes, Sudoku levels and maze levels have many more.

  1. Week 1

    A little time outdoors

Start with familiar garden and bird words, then offer a number puzzle or a trail to follow. Invite people to describe something they can see from a window.

    What is inside

    • Two word searches: Birds (easy) and Garden (medium)
    • Two Sudoku: Easy Sudoku 1 and Medium Sudoku 1
    • One maze: Easy Maze 1
    • Answer pages for all five puzzles at the end (10 pages in total)
  2. Week 2

    Around the kitchen table

Baking and breakfast make a friendly pairing for a recipe conversation. Leave room for quiet solvers and let everyone choose which of the five pages to try.

    What is inside

    • Two word searches: Baking (easy) and Breakfast (hard)
    • Two Sudoku: Easy Sudoku 2 and Medium Sudoku 2
    • One maze: Medium Maze 2
    • Answer pages for all five puzzles at the end (10 pages in total)
  3. Week 3

    Remember, make, and play

Mix a familiar decade with tabletop games. Use the pages to invite optional conversation about objects and pastimes, with no pressure to share personal memories.

    What is inside

    • Two word searches: The 1950s (medium) and Board and Card Games (easy)
    • Two Sudoku: Easy Sudoku 3 and Hard Sudoku 3
    • One maze: Medium Maze 3
    • Answer pages for all five puzzles at the end (10 pages in total)
  4. Week 4

    An armchair adventure

Travel through park landscapes and a campsite on paper. This mix includes a longer maze; keep an easy alternative nearby for anyone who prefers wider paths.

    What is inside

    • Two word searches: National Parks (hard) and Camping (medium)
    • Two Sudoku: Easy Sudoku 4 and Medium Sudoku 4
    • One maze: Hard Maze 4
    • Answer pages for all five puzzles at the end (10 pages in total)

Tips for running the session

  • Offer a choice. Set out the pages face up and let people pick the puzzle they would like to try.
  • Keep a spare easy page nearby. A comfortable first puzzle often leads to a second one.
  • Print a test copy first and check the darkness of the letters and numbers on your printer.
  • Treat the answer pages as a help, not a verdict. Checking one word is as good as checking none.
