Summer Word Search (Large Print)
Picture a shady porch, a cool drink, and a pencil resting on a summer puzzle. This word search includes beaches, gardens, picnic foods, and the small objects that go along on an outing. It is meant to be enjoyed at an easy pace, whether your summer plans involve a lake trip or simply an open window. The theme works well for a community room between scheduled activities.

Playing tips and a fun fact
Find the short outdoor words first, then look for the things you might pack in a bag. HAT, TOWEL, and SANDAL form a handy little group. If participants use different levels, compare imaginary packing lists afterward instead of asking who finished first. A sheet on a clipboard is also easier to manage at a breezy picnic table.
Seashells found on a beach were made by animals, most often mollusks, as protective coverings. Their varied shapes make SHELL a useful prompt for drawing. You can finish the session by designing a postcard from an imaginary summer place and borrowing a few words from the puzzle for its message.
Ideas to extend the activity
- Design an imaginary vacation postcard.
- Make a picnic packing list.
- Draw three different shell shapes.
